Nineteen artifacts were recovered; largely smaller objects that had been exposed on the bottom surface or had been uncovered in test excavations. The ROV documented the wreck in more than two thousand images and seven hours of videotape. (Image: ROV operations in progress)

Results for Year 2002

While many of the initial objectives for the 2002 season went unmet, much was learned about the nature of the site that would be useful for future research. A close inspection of the lifting frame and screw propeller confirmed that the upper sections of the frame can be removed and the lifting yoke employed to recover the propeller in the future. Although the ROV images are largely unsuitable for the planned photomosaic, the material will be used to generate a more detailed plan of the wreck site and a perspective image of the exposed remains. The ROV operations also helped to identify artifacts exposed on the bottom surface.
